Have you ever heard of fast fashion? Well, just as the name suggests, it is fast so it comes and goes.
The fashion trends these days change too often, one day people are crazy about balloon fit tops or denim jackets, the other day they wall will be running after long t-shirts or tank tops.
Now you may think what is the harm in this, well, there is a lot and to spread awareness about the same, Julia Mooney, who lives in New Jersey and is an art teacher by profession decided to take the challenge.
She took a challenge where she was going to wear the same outfit for 100 straight days. If it gets dirty? She will wash it. Gets torn? She will stick a patch.
Julia took the challenge up to spread awareness about fast fashion. When fashion changes every day, the demand for different clothing items grow and people buy and throw away more clothes then they should or they need to.
This also makes them inclined towards buying more clothes at cheap prices.
The US government has set the limit for minimum wages but it is not the same in all the countries.
To get cheaper clothes manufacturing units, they set the factories in countries with very low wages coasts. It makes them pay people even lower then what is required to meet their basic needs as a human.
Other than that, if you look at the stats, the production of a single pair of jeans releases greenhouses gasses equals to what a car would release in a run of 70 miles.
Production of a cotton shirt needs 2700 liters of water which is enough for a person to drink for t least 3 years.
Also, lesser clothes can save a lot of space which can turn great for larger families.
